Hudson News

i was at penn station yesterday and dropped in to the hudson news bookstore. they had a bunch of copies of behind everyman displayed behind the register and seema sharma, the manager, said they've been selling well.

this is exciting because it was in this very store that i got the idea to write the book back in august 2003. i was looking for a fun, quick read for the train. something to get me from nyc to philly and back. but all the books in that genre were geared toward women. there didn't seem to be anything written from the guy's perspective. so instead of buying a book that day, i started writing one.

after telling seema the story, she had me sign all the copies she had on display. it was one of those moments where the long journey from conception to birth (nearly 18 months vis-a-vis the usual 9) comes together in a flash. one of the more gratifying feelings i've had since writing it.

i've posted a few photos from yesterday here. extra special thanks to seema for all the fuss and attention she's given the book!
