Whole Lotta Updates

too much info to divulge, not enough time to do it creatively. so forgive the bullet style of the entry...

* the wnyc tv show "secrets of new york" that was supposed to air on the 8th has been postponed. will let you know when the new air date is as soon as i'm told.

* i'll be teaching writers' conferences at ucla and rutgers. i'm not sure if the ucla one has any room left, but rutgers does. go here if you're interested in signing up. there are a lot of great authors participating, so it should be well attended.

* i'll be participating in the next heeb storytelling night at joe's pub on april 5th at 9:30pm. read about it below, and then go here for tix. it's sure to sellout, so hit the link now! (once there, you need to click on the april 5th "heeb buy tix" link.) or just call the phone number below.

Heeb Storytelling

Heeb Storytelling at Joe's Pub

Guaranteed to be a fearlessly funny evening of 7-minute stories. Featuring AJ Jacobs (Esquire editor, author of "The Know It All"); Molly Jong Fast (novelist, daughter of Erica Jong); David Israel (musician, author of "Behind Everyman"); Jelvis (the world's greatest Jewish Elvis impersonator);Todd Levin (standup comic: "How to Kick People"); Jessica Coen (Gawker editor, freelance journalist); and Najla Said (Arab-American Theater Collective Nibras and daughter of the late Edward Said).

Important Notice There is a two drink minimum or a twelve dollar food
minimum per person. Table reservations can be made for dinner by calling

Sunny's

hey there, hi there, ho there! sunny's was great fun. if you haven't been to gabriel cohen's series down in red hook, you really must! sunny's bar is this old, colorful bar right along the water. lots of history there. thanks to authors brenda coultas and samantha hunt for bringing such wonderful friends down, and for your readings--it was a perfect mix, i thought. and thanks to all my peeps who showed up, and to those who read about it online and made the trek!

i've posted some photos here.

Makor

last night was fun! thanks to everyone who turned out -- you were a warm, and very kind crowd. i hope we addressed the issues and answered some questions, or if nothing else, at least made you laugh a little. thanks also to eliot at makor, who kept us honest, and kept us to schedule. to karyn, who asked about 10.3 sexual partners, i thought about it some more before i went to sleep last night and decided the decimal place must be in the wrong spot. it's clearly a typo, depending on the color of the state you live in: 1.03 for red states and 103 for blue.

some more photos from last night are up in the gallery here. peter hyman is the lad on the far right. and ian kerner is the active one seated in the middle.
